Elin Palmer
Steeped in Swedish Folk music since her birth in Värmland, Sweden, Elin Palmer has been incorporating the Scandinavian sounds into her own music, made modern with her ethereal pop vocals and indie rock twists, providing an aural landscape at once lush and mythical as rune stones covered in moss.
Typically hired for her skills and talent on the violin and nyckelharpa, Elin has been oft-described as a multi-instrumentalist–even keen to the recorder, on which she enjoys playing the Jurassic Park theme song.
Once heralded by Denver’s top music critic Ricardo Baco, as “one of the most accomplished, storied accompanists in Colorado rock history,” she has a long list of credits, performing and/or recording with such bands as: 16 Horsepower, Crooked Fingers, The Czars, Wovenhand, The Fray, Munly & the Lee Lewis Harlots, and Jeff Zentner. And that’s just a start. Her first band, a punk rock band started way back in the day (’97-’01) was recorded by Joe Queer, of the The Queers. She has also toured and performed live with Devotchka, including an appearance on Late Night with Conan O’ Brien. Elin performs & records for the group Kal Cahoone and the Dirty Pretty. She composed and performed a full soundtrack to the production “Soul of a Blue Butterfly” by Anna Duvall in NYC, she also contributed music to America’s own Latino Eco Festival at the Macky Auditorium in Boulder. Elin has performed music by Mark Mothersbaugh for his opening celebration of Myopia at the MCA in Denver through the works of Chris Kallmyer. She has recently performed Scandinavian music with Kristen Demaree for the Boulder Ballet’s production “Stepping Out”.
She has released a solo album titled, Postcard, in 2010, and a new release titled “EP EP” is now available. Elin’s super troupe band includes Kim Baxter & Adrienne Short and goes by the name “LIGHT RACKET”.
